13. Bookmakers (2)

Lets be very clear that the battle between punter and bookmaker has never been more skewed towards the bookmaker. We will talk about some of their behaviours and the tricks that they play at another time.

With the story I am about to tell you, you will see why it is important to be utterly ruthless towards them (within reason). They have a world of pain coming their way and quite frankly they deserve every single bit of it.

It involves Corals. The account was opened many years ago but really came to a head in 2015. Corals clearly decided that the bets I was placing on the account were ones they were happy to indulge. They would readily take bets with stakes of over £10k. Essentially the account was unlimited and at one stage the account was down over £200k. They literally couldn’t get my money fast enough. It wasn’t a straight line down and there were little runs of +£40k in there. However, on that account I ran so bad it is untrue. I chipped away at those losses and managed to get back about £80k of that inc a nice touch on Rory in Dubai (+35k). They were still letting me have whatever I wanted.

Then comes the 2015 Malaysian Open and I backed Lahiri for £1000 EW at 80/1. (Think that bet through when it is a struggle to get £20 EW at that price normally). Lahiri wins and suddenly boom we are back to almost breaking even. They allowed the account to get about £8k in profit before then rendering it unusable. Now I don’t expect them to let people to have unlimited access but it has become so one sided in their favour it is untrue.

There is a very ugly side to bookmakers in this country and the morals they have or don’t have. Do not trust them to do the right thing. They cannot be trusted as they have shown time and time again.
