5. Understand what edge you have

You have to be incredibly clear as to what you believe your edge is over those you are betting against. It maybe that you have better models, maybe better information, be a better judge or ability to read a market better.

It really doesn’t matter what that edge is as long as you can clearly identify it. Make sure you do everything you can to maintain and even maximise that edge.

I have always felt that if you have an edge you have to be aggressive to capitalise on it. Maybe take more risks. The bottom line is that if you have a significant edge it will soon disappear as others improve what they are doing.

Very few edges last for long. It is incredibly important to understand when you no longer have an edge and understand the need to adapt (will be another tweet). Much easier said than done.
