4. Specialisation

I touched on it in Tweet 3 but it is really important that you specialise in a certain area of betting. Whatever area of expertise you choose you have to be the very best or know the very best.

Whatever edge you think you have (will be a diff tweet), one thing is clear. In order to get that edge and make it pay you have to be the very best at what you do. Choose wisely. It is much easier to be the best in a sport or markets where competition is lower.

If you decide Premier League football is where your knowledge is and where you want to bet, you have to understand that there are also millions around the world, who are also highly knowledgeable about it. National League football, not so much.

Tony Ansell is a great case study for this. He was and still is renowned for his expertise in the Scottish lower league football markets. Also in much smaller sports such as Athletics. He was ahead of his time, picked his poison and has made it pay.

Specialise in certain types of horse races. Specialise in lower league football. Specialise in certain smaller golf tours. Specialise in corner markets. You may find yourselves at bit of a crossroads in terms of trying to get bets on if successful.

You can then expand your horizons. Maybe include a different type of race. Maybe move up the football pyramid. Maybe pick another part of the golfing world. Try different markets.

If you cant make it pay in the smaller sports and markets it will be almost impossible to transition into the bigger markets and be successful.
