182. Black Markets (3)

So I thought I would give an update on the tweet I sent a few days ago about the experience I had had so far using Black Markets. This isn’t bets placed via What’s App or some other messaging service. These are websites with gaming licenses in their respective countries. I turned over the remaining £2.4k pretty quickly once I knew exactly what the parameters were. I am clearly an expert on virtual soccer. I did not know what my exact bonus balance was at the very end but it was more than £8k. The last few bets were voided once the threshold was reached. So I log back into my account and I see a balance of £400. I was expecting a minimum of £2000 (£1000 deposit and £1000 bonus winnings).

So I ask chat what is happening and why is it only £400. The lady goes away and says she has applied a bonus to my account as a goodwill gesture. She has given me a £50 bonus. The best part is that to withdraw even the £400 from my account I would need to turnover the new bonus that she had applied to the account. It is so sneaky and underhand it is untrue. Eventually I managed to get someone to remove the £50 bonus so that if I wanted to withdraw the £400 I potentially could. I contacted them numerous times trying to find out what was happening. Each time they effectively hung up on me. I sent an email explaining the situation. Obviously, it hasn’t been answered yet and I would honestly be surprised if it was. It is literally theft but there is very little I can do about it. Very little recourse.

I went into it knowing this sort of thing could happen when using less than scrupulous options. That the Gambling Commission is advocating solutions that will push people towards these types of products and services is genuinely unfathomable. It shows such a lack of understanding of the consequences to what they are trying to do. We shouldn’t be surprised though. Not when you consider how abysmally the Gambling Commission has done on the regulated market in the UK. It is an absolute shit show and only going to get a whole lot worse.
