67. Perseverance

I think one underrated trait for a professional punter is perseverance. This is an incredibly tough and ruthless business. There will be plenty of setbacks and disappointments along the way. If it was easy everyone would do it.

It takes a certain mindset to be willing to walk the streets in all sorts of weather to get bets placed knowing that in all likelihood, those bets will lose. Doing it, knowing that you will hopefully hit a big one, that makes it all worth while. It can be so dispiriting though.

It takes a certain mindset to get up in the middle of the night to trade various sports not knowing if it will be successful or not. It can be very dispiriting particularly if the results are not what you hoped.

It takes a certain mindset to sacrifice nights out/sporting events/concerts etc because you have to grind away, trying to make a new strategy work. It is very tough if you are not instantly rewarded for your efforts.

It takes a certain mindset to sit their crunching through data in the hope of finding some small edge. Only to time and time again be left frustrated as nothing materialises. Edges exist. Keep looking.

This game is full of sacrifices and testing times. There are so many disappointments and frustrations in this game. It takes an awful lot of perseverance to make it pay. Keep plugging away. No one gives you anything in this game.
