So there are numerous different ways to consume content and get information that may get you an edge. The rise of the podcast has certainly been one of the biggest changes in recent years. The hard part now is deciding which content you want to listen to.
Personally, I love hearing the tales from bygone days. I find it fascinating listening to some of the most feared and renowned punters in the game. They managed to find an edge. Its about trying to take away small lessons and seeing if you can apply it to what you do.
It is very easy to listen to hours and hours of podcasts without gaining much. Be clear as to why you are listening to them and what you are trying to derive. I tend to split them up into General Betting, Golf & General Interest.
For General betting the ones I listen to regularly are Bebettorbettors with Spanky. Bet The Process with Rufus Peabody and Jeff Ma (partly golf related). Risk of Ruin is excellent. Betting People with Simon Nott. The first three are very US centric but again its about underlying themes and what works for people. You cannot listen to Spankys recent interview with Haralabos or Simons interviews with Victor Chandler or Harry Findley and not learn something. Full of gems. Same goes when Scott Fawcett joined the BTP guys.
For golf I have no interest in listening to what peoples picks are on a given week. I do enjoy listening to the No Laying Up boys and have done for a long time. No interest in their weekly updates but more when they get the biggest players on, Same goes with Sub Par,
I really enjoyed the Get A Grip podcasts during lockdown but haven’t listened much since Max is no longer doing them. I enjoy the light hearted manner with which Hack It Out discuss golf issues more generally. Lou Stagner who is on it is a brilliant twitter follow.
My favourite podcast of them all is the All In podcast and it has nothing to do with sports or betting. Just gives a strong insight into investing, markets and world issues. Four smart guys showing the leverage of networking.
Whatever you choose, there is a wealth of information out there. Use it and your time wisely. When I was starting out in betting none of these resources were available.
