16. Bookmakers (3)

One thing to realise with bookmakers is that they are fundamentally lazy/inefficient. That is at a corporate level rather than an individual level. The key is to understanding how that impacts what you are doing as a pro punter. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it hinders.

What you have to understand is that many bookmakers in essence use the same 3rd party software and as a consequence they have exactly the same events/prices etc. These companies have decided to outsource as much of their operational stuff as possible.

All the creation of events is outsourced to companies such as BetGenius and Betradar. What it means is that if they make a mistake it will then appear as a mistake across multiple bookmaker sites. Similarly, if one price is wrong it is likely to be wrong cross multiple sites.

They also have similar policies relating to limits and maximum bets etc. It is worth spending significant time becoming very familiar with which bookmakers are in essence ‘skins’ of another one.
